13th April 2023 Workshops

A BLOOMing Success

For those who did not find opportunity to meet and co-create with the Fine Arts Masters degree students from the University of East London during their Community Arts Workshop at Bonnington Cafe, our images and these words below might help capture some of the warm and vibrant energy and spirit of the Workshop that included painting, sculpture, music, poetry, spoken word and jazz piano.

Attracting participation from local people and passing creative adventurers, all who attended agreed that the event was a memorable and significant success for the students toward their experiential professional development and for participants who participated in the open, warm and welcoming creative atmosphere that produced such glorious BLOOM.

‘Love and light emit from participants at the Bonnington Café Gallery during a few fantastic days of blooming Creativity – learnt so much!! Grew so much’ Namaste🙏🏼

‘I felt like I belong’

‘It has been an inspiration’

‘It was a pleasure to radiate what bonnington is as place’

‘Bloom was a fun and relaxing environment that encouraged the engagement of different art forms. I joined the communal tree making day and it was a lovely messy hands-on experience with the chance to meet some fantastic artists and Vauxhall residents. The poetry day was also greatly enjoyed with no pressure to be overly serious but instead a playful look at poetry and the writing of communal poems that was inclusive of all abilities from novices with no experience to keen poets’

A return Exhibition/Event to share works achieved by participants during the Workshop is proposed for later this year at the Bonnington Café Gallery.

  • Thank you to Dr Mikey Georgeson, Artist and senior lecturer UEL who encouraged his students to undertake the workshop after a presentation of Participatory Community Arts and Music at ELU by William Longden, BCCA founding Trustee. Contact: www.mikeygeorgeson.com
