Mary Pierce
Works Inspired by Nature
Private View: Sunday, September 4th 2022 at 5pm
Exhibition runs until Friday September 23rd 2022

Mary graduated from Camberwell School of Arts with a degree in Illustration and then did an MA in Textile Design at Central Saint Martin School of Art, now part of the University of the Arts, London. She worked as a freelance illustrator and textile designer on magazines, educational resources, packaging, greetings cards and on fashion textiles. A year in southern Spain inspired her to produce a range of hand-painted fabrics in vibrant Sevillian colours sold in Liberty’s and elsewhere. She then created a range of floral designs painted onto bone china for Cosmo China in Holborn.

Mary has always loved painting nature, especially flowers, and tries to capture the ethereal beauty of this transitional world. She currently works in watercolour and ink to achieve translucent effects. She is a keen gardener and has a rooftop garden overlooking the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. Mary is available for commissions for garden and flower paintings, and for street and roofscapes.

August 2022 Community Update

Thank you to everyone including those not shown above, for your support, physical efforts, donations and good spirit toward the reopening of BCCA’s Community Cafe’.

The first BCCCafé Arts Exhibition in July featured the works of well known and much respected local artist Gabriele Gad (1946-2022) who lived in Bonnington Square for 40 years.

Primarily a jazz musician and psychotherapist, she also found expression through art. Her paintings, often abstract, reflected her spiritual beliefs and therapeutic methods.

Gabriele’s Celebration of Life Exhibition proved to be a popular enjoyable and memorable event and a perfect marker of the exciting potential of our freshly renovated and revitalised local Community Cafe.

Further ongoing exciting Exhibitions will feature local artists. Applicants for joining the list of Exhibitors are welcome.

Work continues on completing the kitchen refurb for resumption of evening Café service. We look forward to re-opening very soon with an exciting and varied rota of excellent previous and new vegetarian and vegan cooks with an emphasis on local talent. If you are interested in cooking at the Café the required License is available for viewing on request.

Improvement of the Café’s rear garden area with fresh planting and donated artworks continues. The Café’s frontage will be redecorated using the same colours and general design with the addition of a Bonnington Festival dove as contributed by 4th World Arts.
